Today, CHIMMED is engaged in
the following social programs:
I. Illustrated books
for young blind children
Our company has been participating in “Books as a Gift” project for 10. Annually, two series of “Illustration Perception Atlas” textured books for under- and over-fives are published within the framework of the project. Each series comprises five books, entertaining assignments and a “3-D Fairytale Game Set” (a desktop theatre consisting of decorations and characters of the books). The publications are developed with the participation of experts from the Russian Academy of Education with regard for peculiarities of visual and tactile perception of images by blind children and children with vision disorders. These materials introduce them into the outworld, encourage them to start reading, facilitate development of speech, thinking, imagination and also give positive emotions.
Through our longstanding contribution to this project, many children with poor vision from special-purpose preschool facilities in Russia have acquired these books.
II. Our Children’s home
In April 2007, our company decided to take the Children’s home school, a municipal educational institution for orphan children and children without parental custody located in Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Moscow region, 90 km from Moscow, under its patronage.
The Children’s home numbers 65 young habitants. It consists of a dormitory where the children live and a school where they get junior secondary education.
The great desire to change the life of the unhappy children pushed CHIMMED company to cooperation with what we now consider OUR children’s home.
The major courses of “Our Children’s home” project are:
Education. Our intention is to fill a gap in the children’s knowledge in order for them to successfully pass standard education examinations, to prepare them for entering institutions of professional and higher education, to broaden their outlook. We help them to decide matters concerning occupational self-determination and cultivate interest in studies and life as a whole.
Social integration. We render psychological assistance in self-development and self-actualization, give attention to development of communication skills, help to extirpate the subculture behaviour adopted in the environment of a children’s home, to build up self-confidence and become grown-up and self-supporting.

In 2010, we executed for the Children’s Home as follows:
• bought two satellite antennas and a copy duplicator machine;
• granted aid for arrangement of children’s summer recreation:
– at “Chimik” camp (June),
– at “Izumrudny” camp (July);
• carried out settlement gardening at the Children’s Home; Photo.
• rendered assistance to Andrei Khakhalin, a pupil of the Children’s Home, in entering the Flight School n. a. Yury Gagarin (in Monino); Photo.
• invited physical-education instructors and a psychologist to work at the Children’s Home (on a partial payment basis);
• arranged pupil’s visit to a cafe on September 1;
• congratulated the teachers of the Children’s Home with Teacher’s Day and presented gifts;
• organized a trip to the circus in Vernadsky avenue for 40 children with a visit to a cafe.
Our employees come to the Children’s home privately and socialize with the children. We give presents to graduates on the Day of Farewell Bell and congratulate the pupils on February 23 and March 8.
We hope that our concern and support give the children confidence in themselves and help to shape adequate attitudes to the society.
